ARCHOS TABLET REVIEW

The major positive traits of Archos tablet PC is its thin design i.e. of 0.67 inches and its wide storage space of 60 GB and the major drawbacks of it are its CPU i.e. terribly slow; and its touch screen is quite frustrating and also its orientation can’t be rotated. So, we can say that the Archos 9 PC tablet looks like the part of a full operating system iPad competitor but frustrations caused by hardware makes it hard to sell.

Archos is popular for its portable media player which was powered in Archos 5 internet tablet and now  Archos 9 PC tablet, features a window 7 OS in an effort to blend the media player and netbook into one device.

Unfortunately, this blend of 2 things is tougher than it looks, and the result satisfies neither as a handheld multimedia drive and nor as windows PC. The most crippling decision is the choice of 1.1GHz Intel atom z510 as the CPU. And second major drawback comes from the touch screen itself. Unfortunately, we conclude that resistive 8.9″ screen is less responsive than we have expected.

It has default horizontal screen orientation; but its body is sleek so fits naturally into a single hand but, it gives the wonder why there wasn’t any option to rotate the screen physically? Anyway, it has the onscreen keyboard; it also has a button which works like CTRL+ALT+DEL, which is very useful. Thus, by looking at it, one can think that it’s amazing, but later one realizes that it underpowered is worthless.
